Stinky Shoes

How do I wash shoes in the washing machine?  I have a foul smell coming from my shoes, and want to get rid of it?

Anytime you have a foul smell coming from your shoes that means that there is bacteria growing, like yeast, etc.  We think you should throw your shoes away.  It is time to get a new pair.  Perhaps you should take the time to check the condition of your feet.  The problem with your shoes is probably coming from your feet.

If you are feeling adventurous and want to keep your shoes, try these suggestions: Be careful, they could damage your shoes!

(1) try spraying the inside with the new Clorox disinfecting spray.  It kills many different viral infections and bacteria.

(2) you can wash the inside of your shoes with a mild solution of Clorox Clean-Up and water.  This is a bleach product so it will damage any colored material.  Rinse well and then place the shoes in the sun and let them dry naturally.

(3) If you want to wash the shoes in the washer, wash them with other items like large bath towels or jeans.  That way your machine won't go off balance.  Use normal detergent in the wash.  Take the laces out of the shoes.  Then dry in the sun.

Don't forget that any of these methods could damage your shoes, but it sounds like you have nothing to lose.  We are presuming that they are tennis shoes.
