Driveway Stains

I have a stain in my concrete driveway from an older car that was parked there.  It is either oil or radiator or anti-freeze stain.  How do I remove it?

Thanks for you question.  We have personal experience with removing stains from a driveway.  A couple of years ago, we inherited a 1979 Honda Civic that developed a chronic oil leak on our new, pristine concrete driveway.

This is what we did.  Remember there is the possibility this method may harm your driveway, so use with caution.

If there is any standing liquid, pour a generous amount of cat litter to soak up the excess liquid.  Wait 1-2 days, then scoop it up and bag it.  Dispose of it properly because now it is full of toxic chemicals.

Then we poured Clorox Clean-Up on the oil stain.  We took an old scrub brush and agitated the area, adding a little water, and more bleach.  Don't forget to wear gloves and keep your pets away from the area.  Then we let it sit for about an hour or even longer and kept agitating every 15 minutes or so.  We let it dry completely and then washed away the bleach.  The stain was not completely gone, but it was much lighter.  Then the sun bleached out the remaining stain.

Remember that driveways were meant to be driveways, and nobody is going to judge you for having a few spots.  That is just what happens.
