How do I clean my windows and white PVC frames?
Thanks for your question. We have answered this question many times.
Items needed:
(1) Squeegee - the most important thing to look for in a squeegee is a soft,
pliable blade. We like the 10 inch Ettore squeegee and this is available
at stores like OSH and Smart & Final. Once you buy the squeegee, then
you just need to buy replacement blades.
(2) Lightly spritz the window with Windex and then use a wash cloth with lots of
hot water to loosen the dirt and wash the window.
(3) Use your squeegee from left to right, from the top of the window to the
bottom. After each swipe, then wipe the blade with your clean, dry
lint-free cloth.
(4) Play around with your method until you find a comfortable angle to use. You
don't want to hear the squeegee squeak - that could mean you are damaging your
window.
Another thing is if you feel the windows are very dirty with cigarette smoke, animal licks, etc. then use hot water and a dot of Ajax dishwashing
soap [not the anti-bacterial one].
Regarding the white PVC frames, we really like to use the Clorox Clean-Up gel.
This can be found in any grocery store. You could also use the Ajax soap
on them. But if they are stained and you want to brighten them up, the
Clorox is your best bet. Apply a small amount to a washcloth with hot
water, and then wash. Then rinse the frame, and wipe dry. Do not
allow the Clorox to dry on the frame.
Remember to use common sense and caution. Always try a test area in an
inconspicuous place because these methods could damage unstable materials.
